The Governance of the Order
The Religious and Military Constantinian Order of Saint George is governed by the Grand Master. In the discharge of his duties, he is assisted by the Royal Deputation, from whose membership the Governing Council of the Order is drawn. The members of the Royal Deputation are appointed by the Grand Master; their mandate expires upon the death of the Grand Master in office.
By virtue of their office, the principal dignitaries of the Order are members of the Royal Deputation. These comprise the Grand Prefect, who represents the Grand Master in the event of illness, absence, or minority; the Vice Grand Prefect; the President of the Royal Deputation; the Grand Chancellor; the Vice Grand Chancellor; the Grand Prior; the Vice Grand Priors; the Auditor General; the Vice Auditor General; the Grand Treasurer; and the Secretary.
In addition, the Presidents of the Royal Commissions are members of the Royal Deputation, as are such further members of the Order as the Grand Master may appoint as Councillors of the Order by reason of their particular merits.
